Bataan Mangrove Tree Planting CSR

BATAAN ECOTOUR, Balanga Mangrove Park and Magrove Tree Planting

“This is our primary source of livelihood. If we do not take care of it, there might be a time when we will have nothing to eat,” says Mr. Laudico Perez, SUGPO President, the Samahang Ugnayan ng Pangisdaan ng Orion “Who else will take care of it except for us who benefit from the sea?

Bataan Mangrove Ecotour

Two mangrove nurseries were established in Balut and Camachile, where propagules are nurtured prior to reforestation. Harvesting of propagules is conducted only during January to May because of limited propagules. Nonetheless, the organization encourages its members to continually collect propagules. Mangrove species nurtured include bakauan lalake (Rhizophora Apiculata), bakauan babae (Rhizophora mucronata), bungalon (Avicennia marina) and pagatpat (Sonneratia alba). Nipa seeds are also being propagated, and if successful will be planted along the rivers. The organization will be strengthening its mangrove reforestation and fishery surveillance operations in the coming months through capacity building for its members. One major activity is also to develop second-tier of leaders to ensure the continuity of the organization. An information and public awareness campaign will also be undertaken to increase the mass-based support for coastal and marine management in the Municipality.

SOS Children’s Village- Bataan, the newest and the eighth SOS Children’s Village in the Philippines, is an independent, non-government social development organization committed to helping children in need which was officially inaugurated on August 30, 2010. We were formally introduced by His Excellency Most Rev. Socrates Villegas, DD, then Bishop of the Diocese of Balanga upon his invitation to put up a new village in Bataan in 2009.We are the first and pioneer in a family approach to long-term care of orphaned, abandoned or neglected children. As to date, we provide a loving home and holistic intervention to 93 children under our Family-Based Care with their (11) SOS families and assisting the 114 children beneficiaries of our Family Strengthening Program with their 25 families. With our vision that, “Every child belongs to a family and grows with love, respect and security,” we are likewise determined to achieve our mission to build families for children in need, help them shape their own futures and contribute in the development of their communities.

BATAAN Mangrove Tree Planting & Outreach Program

BataanEcotour

BATAAN ECOTOUR, Mangrove Tree Planting &
SOS Children’s Village Outreach

“This is our primary source of livelihood. If we do not take care of it, there might be a time when we will have nothing to eat,” says Mr. Laudico Perez, SUGPO President, the Samahang Ugnayan ng Pangisdaan ng Orion “Who else will take care of it except for us who benefit from the sea?

Aurora Province is located on the East-Central side of Luzon Island. It is the north-eastern most province of Central Luzon (Region III). It is bordered on the north by the provinces of Isabela and Qurino, on the west by Nueva Ecija and Nueva Viscaya, on the south by Bulacan and Quezon, and on the east by the Pacific Ocean. The province’s main link to the rest of Luzon is through a narrow mountain gravel road that twists through the Sierra Madre Mountain Range. The road is located between Baler and Bongabon, Nueva Ecija.

Aurora is a province blessed with an abundance of tourist attractions. It has its share of historical sights such as the home and resthouse of former Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon. The province also has a beautiful Catholic church and several historical markers. Its natural attractions include picturesque waterfalls, lush greenery on mountainsides, and panoramic beaches. Surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, mountain climbing and trekking are only some of the activities a tourist can enjoy in Aurora.
