The Angat Watershed Forest Reserve is a conservation area that protects the drainage basin in the southern Sierra Madre range north of Metro Manila in the Philippines where surface water empties into the Angat River and its tributaries. It is spread over an area of 62,309 hectares (153,970 acres) in the eastern portion of Bulacan and northern Rizal province at an altitude of between 490 and 1,206 metres (1,608 and 3,957 ft). The conservation area also extends to the provinces of Nueva Ecija and Quezon and is centered on an artificial lake created by the Angat Dam which, together with the Ipo Dam located 7.5 kilometres (4.7 mi) downstream, supply 97% of the water requirement of Metro Manila via an aqueduct system to the La Mesa Dam and Reservoir and the Balara Filtration Plant in Quezon City. The Angat Dam and Reservoir is also a major source of hydroelectricity for Metro Manila and surrounding provinces, contributing some 200 megawatts to the Luzon grid. The watershed is a popular birdwatching site and is a biodiversity hotspot containing most of the remaining closed-canopy forests in Central Luzon.

Enchanting Hidden Valley Spring Resort

HIDDEN VALLEY SPRING RESORT

Both Enchanting and Therapeutic

Calauan Town via Alaminos, Laguna

 Hidden Valley

Hidden Valley Springs Resort in Laguna is a tropical rainforest paradise located in Calauan town. The natural springs and waterfall are surrounded by lush vegetation, including approximately 153 species of plant life and towering Amlang trees reported to be more than 300 years old.

Six natural pools can be enjoyed by guests of Hidden Valley, including two shallow kiddie pools and one natural jacuzzi. The other pools are:

What was the origin of these natural springs? It is believed that hundreds of centuries ago, a 300-feet deep crater was formed during a volcanic upheaval (Hidden Valley is wedged betwwen Mount Makiling and Mount Banahaw). Consequently, more than a hundred natural springs of varying temperatures surfaced, composed of pure mineral waters that are said to be medicinal and rejuvenating.

Aside from swimming, another activity is hiking/strolling in the surrounding rainforest. Be one with nature and savour its peace and serenity: Follow the path to scattered springs and the “hidden waterfall” through wooden bridgeways and stoned pathways.

For your dining needs, Hidden Valley has an outdoor/open air restaurant that serves buffet meals. During lunch and afternoon snacks, guests are serenaded and entertained by a band of folk singers. And if weather permits, the tables and chairs are set on the garden beside the restaurant for a starlit dinner.

RESORT FACILITIES: Warm & cold natural swimming pools, gazebos (first come, first serve), air-conditioned dressing rooms, shower & lockers, restaurant and cafe, souvenir shop, air-conditioned room accommodation with private toilet & bath, hot & cold water, verandah or deck providing view of the rainforest.

Some of the spring swim pool are heated and smell like pandan plant =)

Ifugao UNESCO Rice Terrace World Heritage

World Heritage UNESCO Rice Terraces

Batad, Bangaan, Mayoyao, Hungduan

The Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995, the first-ever property to be included in the cultural landscape category of the World Heritage List.[1] This inscription sites are: the Batad Rice Terraces, Bangaan Rice Terraces (both inBanaue), Mayoyao Rice Terraces (in Mayoyao), Hungduan Rice Terraces (inHungduan), all in the IfugaoProvince, the Philippines. Built 2000 years ago and passed on from generation to generation, the Ifugao Rice Terraces reach a higher altitude and were built on steeper slopes than many other terraces. The Ifugao complex of stone or mud walls and the careful carving of the natural contours of hills and mountains to make terraced pond fields, coupled with the development of intricate irrigation systems, harvesting water from the forests of the mountain tops, and an elaborate farming system. The terraces illustrate a persistence of cultural traditions and remarkable continuity and endurance; archaeological evidence reveals that this technique has been in use in the region for 2000 years virtually unchanged. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice_Terraces_of_the_Philippine_Cordilleras

Vigan to Pagudpud Dec 26 to 30

VIGAN Heritage/Laoag Tour & PAGUDPUD Beach
3 days 2 nights  Dec 27 to 29, 2014

Ilocandia

VIGAN – is the second greatest architectural legacy of the Spaniards. It is especially impressive in the early morning, when the diffused light transforms the old town with its colonial houses and calesas into a scene reminiscent of the 17th century. Visit Vigan, Ayala Museum, Crisologo Museum in original Vigan ancestral house, Archbishop’s Palace, Pagburnayan, St. Paul’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Plaza Burgos, Plaza Salcedo, Loom Weaving, Baluarte ni Chavit, Vigan Market, Hidden Garden

LAOAG – is the capital of Ilocos Norte. Visit Paoay Church – built in coral blocks & stucco-lasted bricks. Malacanang of the North – official residence of President Marcos, Sand Dunes – extensive sand dune beach, where Panday is filmed, Fort Ilocandia – first class hotel with Spanish architecture, Marcos Museum – resting place of President Marcos, Sinking Bell Tower – most massive & tallest bell tower in the Philippines, Sarrat Church – where Catholic Hall of Justice is before.

KAMAY NI HESUS PILGRIMAGE

Lucban Laguna

 God never fails a believer’s heart…

Rev. Father Joey Faller, spiritual director of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Philippines and founder of the kamay ni Hesus Healing Church visualized the church to give the sick and the spiritually weak a haven where they could feel and experience the presence of God.

At the church’s backdrop is a steep hill transformed into a picturesque Via Dolorosa Grotto of Healing and Purification, all of 292 steps, including the life-size statues of the 14 Stations of the Cross is leading to a 50-foot statue of the Ascending Christ —the third biggest in the world than can be seen miles away.
